How to study this syllabus
The labels below are preparation priorities, not official weightage claims. Chapter importance can change from one paper to another, so complete the official syllabus rather than studying only the highlighted areas.
| Subject | Suggested priority areas | What to practise | Common challenge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | Mechanics, electricity and magnetism, modern physics | Concept linking and multi-step numerical solving | Choosing the right model quickly |
| Chemistry | Organic mechanisms, physical numericals, coordination chemistry | Reaction application, calculations and precise recall | Combining facts with reasoning |
| Mathematics | Calculus, algebra, coordinate geometry | Multi-step problem solving and alternate methods | Time-consuming calculations |
| Overall | Complete Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics syllabus | Accuracy, speed and concept depth | Mixed-topic questions |
๐กJEE Advanced 2026 has two compulsory papers of three hours each, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in both papers. Verify the exact current-year details in the official brochure. Read the official brochure.

Questions about the JEE Advanced syllabus
Use the official brochure as the final source for current rules and exact syllabus wording.
The official JEE Advanced syllabus and information brochure available on jeeadv.ac.in are the final references. This page provides a preparation-oriented overview.
There are two compulsory papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper includes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Check the current brochure for exact year-specific details.
Many topics overlap, but JEE Advanced generally demands deeper concepts, tougher application and mixed-topic problem solving than JEE Main.
Calculus, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors and Three-Dimensional Geometry are useful priority areas. Do not skip other official topics because questions can combine concepts.
NCERT is useful for fundamentals, especially Chemistry, but advanced preparation also needs higher-level problems, previous-year questions, revision and timed mock tests.
